After completely giving 2016 a skip, Kangana Ranaut will be seen in two movies in 2017. One of these will be Simran, a drama based on a real-life incident that is set in US of A. The movie is directed by Hansal Mehta, and also stars Rajkummar Rao, with a script by Apurva Asrani. Producer Shailendra Singh had taken to Twitter to announce the release date of the movie “#Simran is on 17th sept. 2017.. @mehtahansal @Apurvasrani.”Though it is not clear that which movie will it clash on the same Friday, we do know that Judwaa 2 is releasing around in the same month. Interestingly Kangana Ranaut will not be playing Simran in the movie, instead her character is supposed to be called Praful Patel. Knowing how good Kangana does in off beat movie, are we seeing at another chance for her to bag her next National award?
She won her first National award as the Best Supporting Actress for Fashion, Later she won the Best Actress award twice for roles in Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Incidentally, even Hansal Mehta is a favourite among the National award jury. He was instrumental in giving Rajkummar Rao his first National Award as the Best Actor for Shahid. There is also a strong contention that Manoj Bajpayee is having his stake ready for the same award for his brilliant performance in Aligarh, again directed by Hansal Mehta. So all Kangana fans can keep their fingers crossed for this one.Kangana Ranaut will also be seen in Rangoon next year, where she is sharing screen with Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan for the first time. Rangoon is directed by Vishal Bharadwaj. The movie is said to be period romantic drama with World War II as the backdrop, and is said to be on the lines of Hollywood classic, Casablanca.
